Chelsea will host Crystal Palace in a London derby at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The Blues have hit the ground running under Maurizio Sarri, and their impressive start to the season has impressed everyone.

The Blues remain undefeated in the league this season, and they currently sit in the third spot in the league table with 24 points. Last weekend, Chelsea registered an emphatic 4-0 win at Burnley to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool.

The hosts can’t afford to drop any easy points if they hope to keep in touch with the top-two. The home game against Palace is a decent opportunity to add three more points to the total, and we expect Sarri’s players to be up to the task.

Chelsea were involved in Carabao Cup action on Thursday, and they were made to work hard for their 3-2 home win over Derby County. A number of first-team players were involved in the game, so we expect the Italian manager to make some changes for the game on Sunday.

Alvaro Morata has started two games in last five days, and he is likely to feature from the bench.

The Eagles have made a rather poor start to their season. They currently sit in the 14th position in the table with eight points. They picked up an impressive result last weekend as they ended Arsenal’s winning run with a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park. The result earned them their first home point of the season.

Both of their wins have come on the road this season, but these results were against bottom-three opponents. As things stand, Palace remain without a win in their last five games, and they would be huge underdogs in West London on Sunday.

Palace haven’t conceded a lot of goals and they have the joint-best defence in the bottom half of the league. However, they have had problems in scoring goals from open play. Both of their goals against Arsenal came through penalties, and the Blues would definitely keep in mind to not make stupid challenges in the box.

The South London side were also involved in the midweek League Cup action, but they bowed out of the cup after losing 1-0 at Middlesbrough.

Since Palace’s latest entry into the top-tier, both sides have faced each other in ten league meetings. Interestingly, none of these meetings has ended in a draw. Chelsea have a slight edge with six wins, but Palace have enjoyed their share of success against the Blues.

Last season, both league meetings ended in 2-1 home wins. Prior to the last season, Palace had registered back-to-back league wins at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea Team News

Sarri has indicated that Eden Hazard could play a part in the game. Ross Barkley should feature in the starting eleven, and we also expect Olivier Giroud to come back.

Crystal Palace Team News

The Eagles are without the likes of Christian Benteke, Conor Wickham, Joel Ward and Scott Dann. Wilfried Zaha wasn’t risked on Thursday, but he should start against Chelsea.
