Manchester United vs Juventus

Manchester United host Juventus in a mouth-watering Champions League clash at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

The Red Devils are already a couple of points behind the Italian champions owing to their goalless home draw against Valencia. Hence, they can’t afford to lose on Tuesday if they hope to qualify top of their group.

A defeat could spell trouble for United, especially if Valencia manage to beat minnows Young Boys in the second game in the group. Hence, this game could have serious repercussions for United’s hopes in the tournament.

United were involved in a 2-2 draw at Chelsea during the weekend. They ended up conceding a last-minute equalizer, but their performance in West London was certainly encouraging for their prospects on Tuesday. Anthony Martial scored a brace against Chelsea, and he should start on Tuesday.

Juventus come here following a surprising 1-1 home draw against Genoa in Serie A. The result ended their perfect start in all competitions this season. Nevertheless, they find themselves in a strong position in their group after picking up wins over Valencia and Young Boys.

The Italian champions are among favourites to win the competition, more so after the capture of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. The former United star would be desperate to make an impression at his old stomping ground, and he is a good bet in the goalscorer market.

A win on Tuesday would more-or-less confirm Juventus’ progression into the next round, and we expect them to be up for the battle. The Italian champions have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven games in the tournament, and that is a worrying statistic for United.

The Red Devils have looked anxious at the back in the opening weeks, and we don’t see them not conceding at least a couple of goals against Old Lady.

Both sides haven’t faced each other since the 2002-03 tournament. That season, both sides were grouped together and both of them managed to progress into the knockout rounds. United won the corresponding game 2-1, and they completed a double with a 3-0 win in Italy.

Manchester United Team News

Alexis Sanchez, who failed to make an appearance against Chelsea, has been ruled out for the game. Jesse Lingard is another absentee for the game. Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones, Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot are also doubts.

Juventus Team News

Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is set to miss the trip to Old Trafford. Mario Mandzukic has also joined him on the sidelines with an ankle sprain on Monday. Sami Khedira and Daniele Rugani are also ruled out for this game.

Betting Tip

United have shown positive signs in their last two games, but the task facing them on Tuesday is quite huge. They have won only one of their last six games in all competitions, and hence we don’t see them defeating Juventus. Meanwhile, Juventus are the team to beat in Europe this season, and they are favourites to win despite being the away side. We are backing:
