GeekyGambler is operated by Matching Visions, an affiliate marketing company founded in 2017 that works with UKGC-licensed operators across the gambling industry. The site is edited by the Geeky Gambler News Team, whose editors have spent over a decade working in casino affiliate SEO and have firsthand experience with how UK operators handle deposits, withdrawals, bonus mechanics and KYC.
How we review casinos — our methodology
Every casino we review goes through the same hands-on process before a word is written:
- Sign up with a real account and complete UKGC-mandated KYC verification.
- Deposit £20-50 and make at least 30 real-money wagers across slots and live dealer.
- Trigger a withdrawal and time how long it actually takes to land — not what the site claims.
- Test customer support response times across live chat, email and phone.
- Read the bonus terms in full and verify any wager-free or cashback claims are honoured.
The seven criteria we rate every casino on
We score each operator on the same seven criteria. Each one maps to a verifiable fact we record on the casino's review page, so you can check our working:
- Licensing & safety — which regulator licenses the operator (we record the licence on every review) and whether they integrate UKGC-mandated player protections. Tier-one licences (UKGC, MGA) score higher than offshore licences, which we flag with an amber badge.
- Withdrawal / payout speed — the verified payout time we observe when we actually trigger a withdrawal, and the minimum withdrawal threshold. This carries the most weight because it is where operators most often disappoint players.
- Payment methods — the breadth and quality of the payment methods we record (cards, e-wallets, Trustly/open banking, pay-by-mobile, and whether the site is crypto-friendly), plus how cleanly deposits and withdrawals process.
- Responsible-gambling tools — whether the operator offers deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs, self-exclusion and direct GAMSTOP integration. A casino missing any of these does not get featured at all.
- Game range — the size of the library (the games count we record) and the quality of the studios behind it (the top providers we list on each review), including the live-dealer offering.
- Customer support — real response times we measure across live chat, email and phone, and whether agents actually resolve the issue rather than deflecting.
- Bonus fairness — not the headline size but the terms: the wagering multiplier, max-bet rules, game weighting, expiry windows and any hidden caps. A small bonus with low wagering scores better than a big one you can never clear.
How the score is formed
Those criteria are combined into a single editor score out of 10 using fixed weights, applied identically to every operator — including ones that pay us:

- Bonus fairness (terms, not headline size) — 20%
- Game library quality & range — 20%
- Customer support — 15%
- Platform usability (incl. payment methods & RG tools) — 10%
- Regulatory record & licensing — 10%
The score you see at the top of each review is this weighted total. Where players have rated an operator, we also surface their average separately from our editor score — we never blend the two.
How often we re-review
Casino terms change. We re-check every featured operator's bonus terms, wagering, payment methods and licence status on a rolling basis and at minimum every 90 days, and immediately when a material change (a bonus change, a UKGC enforcement action, a withdrawal-policy change) is reported. The "Updated / reviewed" date shown on each review reflects the most recent check.
How we make money
GeekyGambler is funded by affiliate commissions from UKGC-licensed casinos. If you click a link to a casino on this site and register, we may receive a commission. This does not change your deposit, bonus, or any aspect of your experience at the casino. Crucially, it does not influence our editorial scoring or written reviews — we score operators we have no relationship with on the same scale as operators that pay us.
If we cannot recommend a casino, we say so. Several major UK operators we have reviewed do not earn a featured slot on our homepage, despite being commercially significant, because they do not meet our editorial threshold.
