Editorial policy & AI disclosure

How we research, write, fact-check and correct everything on GeekyGambler. Including exactly what artificial intelligence does and does not do in our pipeline.

Who writes the site

GeekyGambler is edited by Christian Nielsen, who has worked in casino affiliate SEO and UK gambling content for over a decade. Christian personally signs off on every casino review, provider review, and slot review on this site. Those long-form pages are written by humans (Christian and contributing editors).

What artificial intelligence does on this site

We use AI assistance for one specific section: UK casino news. Time-sensitive stories about UKGC announcements, operator bonus changes, slot releases, and industry events are drafted with the help of large language models, then reviewed for factual accuracy by a second AI fact-checking pass before publication, with a weekly editorial audit by Christian Nielsen.

Every news article drafted with AI assistance carries a visible disclosure at the foot of the article. We do not use AI for casino reviews, provider reviews, slot reviews, or any page on which we recommend a specific operator.

What AI never does on this site

  • Fabricate facts, statistics or quotes. Every numeric or quoted claim must be supported by a cited source.
  • Make legal or regulatory interpretations. We report what the UKGC says; we do not invent rulings.
  • Predict the outcome of specific gambling sessions or claim any system "beats" a casino.
  • Generate fake user testimonials or reviews.
  • Author reviews of casinos, providers, or slots.

Sourcing standards

Every news article we publish cites at least one primary source. Where we summarise a UKGC announcement, we link the UKGC publication directly. Where we cover an operator's bonus change, we cite the operator's official terms page. Where we report on industry data, we cite the industry publication or research body that originated the figure.

We do not rewrite competitor articles. Where another publication broke a story first, we cite them by name and add our own analysis specifically about what the news means for UK players — our value-add, not a paraphrase of theirs.

The fact-check process

For AI-assisted news articles, the pipeline runs in two stages:

  1. Draft: an LLM is given the source content, our style guide, and pointers to relevant existing GeekyGambler pages. It writes a 400–600 word article with a key-takeaways block, body, and source citations.
  2. Fact-check: a different LLM, with a separate "skeptical fact-checker" prompt, verifies every factual claim in the draft against the source. Articles that fail any verification check go to a manual review queue. They do not auto-publish.

Christian Nielsen audits a sample of published articles every week and pulls anything that slipped through the automated checks. We publicly log any retractions or corrections at the top of the affected article.

Affiliate disclosure

GeekyGambler is funded by affiliate commissions from UKGC-licensed casinos. If you click a link to a casino and subsequently register and deposit, we may receive a commission from that casino. This commission does not change your bonus, your account, or any aspect of your experience.

Affiliate commercial relationships do not influence editorial ratings or written reviews. Several casinos we feature pay us; we still call out their flaws in the review (look at the "cons" lists). Several casinos that have approached us with higher commission offers do not appear on the site because they do not meet our editorial threshold.

How to report an error

If you spot a factual error, an outdated bonus term, a broken link, or any claim that does not match its cited source, email editorial@geekygambler.com with the URL of the page and a short description. We aim to investigate within 24 hours.

If we publish a correction or retraction, it appears at the top of the article with the date. We do not silently edit articles after publication.

Responsible gambling

We will not publish anything that misrepresents gambling as a way to make money, downplays gambling harm, or contradicts UKGC responsible-gambling standards. Every page on the site links to our responsible gambling resources and the UK helplines that provide free confidential support.

Updates to this policy

We will update this policy whenever the role of AI in our publishing changes meaningfully. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent material change. We notify Google News Publisher Center of material changes when relevant.
