Bosnia move level on points with Canada
Bosnia & Herzegovina secured a commanding 3–1 victory over Qatar in Group B of the World Cup 2026 hub on 24 June 2026, moving to four points and keeping their progression hopes firmly alive.
Alajbegović broke the deadlock in the 29th minute to give Bosnia the lead, and the advantage was doubled just five minutes later when Abunada turned the ball into his own net in the 34th minute to make it 2–0.
Qatar refused to capitulate entirely. Al-Haydos reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute to give his side a lifeline heading into the latter stages, setting up a tense period in the match.
Mahmić puts the result beyond doubt
Any hopes Qatar harboured of a comeback were extinguished in the 80th minute when Mahmić struck to restore the two-goal cushion and confirm a 3–1 final scoreline for Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The defeat leaves Qatar in a precarious position. According to the live World Cup 2026 standings, Switzerland top Group B on seven points from three games, while Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina are level on four points apiece. Qatar sit bottom with just one point from their three matches, making qualification from the group an extremely difficult task.
For Bosnia, the result keeps them in contention for a place in the knockout rounds, with their fate likely to be determined by how results elsewhere in the group unfold.
