Group D is the host-USMNT group and one of the harder groups for a host nation. Mauricio Pochettino is the unconventional managerial choice — Argentine boss leading the home team. Türkiye are the technical wildcard, Australia bring the matchday-grit factor, Paraguay are a difficult out for anyone. The USMNT lost 5-2 to Belgium and 2-0 to Portugal in March friendlies — the floor is fragile.
