Two slots with identical RTP can feel like completely different games. Volatility (or variance) describes how a slot delivers its return: low-volatility games drip-feed small wins, extreme-volatility games pay almost nothing most spins and concentrate their return in rare, large bonus events.
Matching volatility to bankroll matters more than chasing RTP decimals. Low volatility
Frequent small wins that roughly track your stake. Sessions are long and swings are shallow, which is why low-volatility slots dominate free-spins offers and suit wagering requirements. The trade-off is capped upside — max wins in the hundreds of times stake, not thousands.
Medium volatility
